Methuen Karate Awards Shodan and Junior Grade Black Belts

Kancho Larry Giordano congratulated Methuen Karate’s newest Shodan’s, Sempai David & Sempai Michael, in an award ceremony at the end of the monthly Black Belt Training class. Several of the current Black Belts along with the class’s kyu ranks and the new Sempais’ families were in attendance.

Sempai Michael Wall commented “Osu! Thank you, Kancho and all the black belts that have inspired, encouraged, and motivated me along this journey. It is an honor to train with all of you”.

A day earlier, the students who successfully passed the Junior Grade Black Belt test were awarded their kohai rank. Students under the age of 16 who have completed the required training and who have exhibited a readiness for promotion are invited to test for their Junior Grade Black Belt during MKA’s annual Black Belt Review.

That year, testing took place on October 21, 2018 and the Junior Grade candidates tested alongside the adults.
